The St. Mark’s Players are pleased to announce that we are currently seeking Show Proposals for our Spring 2026 show slot!

The St. Mark’s Players is a participatory company that uses theater to explore our lives and to serve our community. As a Community Theater Company, the St. Mark’s Players survives and thrives through the inspiration and involvement of people like you!

-----------------------

The Artistic Committee is leaning toward selecting a musical for this performance slot. We are specifically interested in shows that meet the following criteria, but please note these are preferences and not requirements:

  • Shows with a large and diverse cast (in regards to age, race, and gender) Shows that can be cast color-blind are preferred.

  • Shows that can incorporate children in the performance (preferable in the chorus and not as leads).

  • A vision that utilizes the Nave performance space in interesting ways

Performance dates are anticipated to be in May 2026

(exact dates of performances are TBD)

Items to be included in your submission:

  • A “Letter of Interest” stating your desire to direct with the St. Mark’s Players.  This should include:

    • Why you want to direct with the St. Mark’s Players

    • Why you want to direct this show(s)

  • Directing Proposal (if submitting more than one show for consideration, please submit a proposal for each show). The proposal should include:

    • Brief description of the show, including a character breakdown

    • Vision for your production

    • Themes of the show, and how you think/want an audience to connect to them

    • Technical aspects of the show.  Ideas for set, lights, sound, costumes, etc. This must include how you plan to utilize the St. Mark’s Players performance space in the nave of the church (see note 2 below)

    • Plans for filling out your production/technical team

    • If possible, please provide a copy of the script of the show for review purposes

  • Resume, including all productions you have directed and any additional relevant theater experience you would like the committee to take into consideration.

  • List of 3 references who are familiar with your work and their contact information.

If you are interested in directing with the St. Mark’s Players, please submit your application, with attachments, HERE.

Please submit your materials by 11:59pm on Monday, February 17, 2025.

Notes:

  1. Directing positions are unpaid.

  2. We encourage all interested directors to see the nave at St. Mark’s Church prior to submitting your proposal to ensure your vision fits with our unique performance space, which is a working church. As such the theater works as a variable black box space with many different configurations. You should familiarize yourself with the play space and have a specific vision for how you will use it.  This does not mean we expect your vision to be limited- dream big, but have specifics for how you want to make it work.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us, info@stmarksplayers.org.

Best,
Alicia
